What got you interested in working as an occupational therapist?
I love working in home health because I am able to support my patients and their families in their home, school, daycare, and/or community environments. Some of my favorite sessions are when I treat in the community.
What do you love most about working as an occupational therapist?
My favorite thing is seeing my children gain independence and conquer a task that was once difficult for them. Seeing their face light up and sense of pride is contagious!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 year old son, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, and hiking.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
One of my hidden talents is quilting.
What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?
Heavy work, heavy work, heavy work! Pushing a laundry basket filled with books around the house is a great heavy work and regulating strategy, especially in the winter or in small spaces like apartments.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I utilize Parent-Coaching, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed approaches to my practice. My specialty training includes fine motor development, sensory-based interventions, visual perceptual skills, aquatics, and Trust Based Relationship Intervention (TRBI) training.
