What got you interested in working in ST?

I considered nursing but get queasy with blood. I considered teaching but worried about classroom management.  Speech pathology was the perfect fit!  I’ve enjoyed working in both school and hospital settings.

What do you love most about being a speech therapist?

I worked with a child for six years. He has complex medical needs. When we began therapy he had an augmentative communication device and feeding tube. His parents were told he’d never eat or speak. I was lucky enough to witness him overcome the odds. He is a verbal communicator, gifted student and had his G-tube removed. He continues to inspire me, 12 years later.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

walking, momming, boating, camping, traveling

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I once lived on an island (Nantucket).

What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?

Play Apples to Apples!

Is there anything else you want to share?

I have three awesome daughters: 16, 15, 15
