What got you interested in working as a speech therapist?
I was interested in working with children and learned about speech language pathology from a family friend. I realized that it would be the perfect job for me because I could help make a difference and help children learn to communicate and advocate for themselves. I also enjoy the variety of patients I get to work with in home health care and that every day is different.
What do you love most about working with FRPT?
I love working for FRPT because every member of the team cares deeply about our patients. I am grateful that I can provide therapy in the home or daycare setting where children are the most comfortable. Providing in-home therapy with the caregivers involved in treatment ensures that my patients make the best progress.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
In my free time I like to explore Colorado by hiking, camping, and roadtripping. I also enjoy baking desserts, cooking new recipes and working out. My perfect weekend includes a hike in the mountains, Thai food, and cuddling with my two cats.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I spent a part of my childhood living in Germany and speak fluent German. This sparked my love for traveling and learning about other cultures through travel, food and media.
What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?
Cooking or baking together is a great way to work on anything from language and speech to feeding and motor skills. Following directions, talking about the ingredients, preparing the ingredients and teamwork are just a few of the ways this activity can target a variety of skills. And bonus, you get to enjoy what you made together afterwards!
