What got you interested in working as a speech therapist?

I have always been passionate about working with the pediatric population. I was initially between becoming a reading specialist or a special education teacher. During my time in college, I took a course where I learned more about Speech Pathology. Eventually during volunteering and shadowing, I realized I enjoyed working with children individually and taking a more natural approach. I was able to build better relationships with my students and saw a lot more progress. I became interested in FRPT because we have similar approaches to providing services. I love to lead therapy with a play based approach and provide coaching to empower caregivers.

What do you love most about being a speech therapist?

Overall, I have really enjoyed the relationships I have built in this field. Both with coworkers and families. I strongly believe building rapport with the people you work with makes for a more enjoyable and fulfilling work environment!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

After work I love spending time with my dog, reading and baking. On the weekends, I enjoy being outside, hiking, going to the farmers market and mini road trips to explore new towns.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I grew up in the UFO Capital of New York! Sadly, I haven’t seen any UFOs.

What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?

I strongly believe in natural learning environments and following the child’s lead. There are so many ways we can build language models into their typical routine. Some of my favorite activities to do with kids aside from play include reading, baking and going for walks.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I am so excited and proud to be a part of the FRPT team!
