What got you interested in working as a speech therapist?
From a very young age, I have been committed to supporting children’s learning and development.
What do you love most about being a speech therapist?
My career has afforded me a diverse range of experiences, and some of my most cherished memories involve mentoring students and clinical fellows. I am passionate about fostering professional growth in other clinicians and take great satisfaction in supporting their development.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
In my free time, I appreciate activities that keep me active and engaged. I enjoy physical challenges such as CrossFit, running with friends, and Spartan races. My family and I treasure spending quality time together watching college football, traveling, and skiing & snowboarding. In addition, my husband and I are frequently found cheering from the sidelines of our children’s sporting events.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
My first job in high school involved teaching preschool-aged children how to figure skate.
What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?
Just play. Engaging in play is a powerful way for children to learn and grow. It provides a wonderful opportunity to bond and support development while enjoying quality time together. Most therapy goals can be addressed through play with everyday items at home – fancy materials aren’t necessary!
