What got you interested in working as an occupational therapist?
I’ve always been drawn to helping people and when it came time to decide on a career, this seemed like the path that most aligned with who I am. I knew I wanted to go into pediatrics and dove right in after graduating and haven’t looked back! I was introduced to FRPT from a friend who works in the HH industry. She knows a lot about them all and said FRPT was different – good different. I’ve been impressed by the intention and professionalism demonstrated from Rylie and Shelby.
What is your favorite thing about or memory being an occupational therapist?
While no specific memory comes to mind right now, I am so lucky to be connected with a few families from my past jobs and I just delight in seeing them grow. It’s awesome seeing my kids hit HUGE milestones like graduating from 8th grade and walking across the podium. And to know that I was part of the team that helped them learn to roll over and crawl, it’s just so cool to see these kids live their lives. I feel so blessed that I get to be a small part of people’s stories.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I LOVE a slow hobby. Give me a puzzle or a book and I am good to go. I also love learning new hobbies like crocheting, punch needling, felting, etc. But my most favorite thing to do is play with my son and have quality family time.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
This is a fact that most people eventually learn but I’m deaf in my right ear. Most people won’t notice but if you ever wonder why I’m not responding, it’s probably because I can’t hear you!
What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?
Tummy time! It’s not age specific and it’s a wonderful activity to incorporate. Tablet time? On your tummy. Reading books? On your tummy. Game night? On your tummy.
