What got you interested in working as a speech therapist?
When I was in middle school, my dad saw an SLP for dysphagia after treatment for head and neck cancer. To this day, he always says that while his doctors saved his life, his SLP gave him the ability to keep living it. Hearing that made a huge impact on me and sparked my interest in becoming an SLP. That interest led me to volunteer (and eventually work) at Colorado Springs Therapy Center in the aquatic speech therapy program. It was there that I fell in love with pediatrics and discovered how meaningful it can be to provide therapy in natural, engaging environments!
What is your favorite memory of being an SLP?
My favorite thing about being an SLP is having the privilege of supporting and advocating for people at all stages of life!
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love to read, hike, spend time with loved ones, and try new hobbies!
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I love rehabilitative aquariums!
What is your favorite activity to encourage learning and growth with kids?
Narrate, model, and talk through everyday activities as much as you can! Language learning happens all day long, and those small moments add up. Most importantly, don’t worry about being perfect! Your child benefits most from hearing and interacting with you. Your therapy team is part of your village, and we’re here to support both you and your child along the way.
